Weekend Recap

Good morning everyone! It’s Monday and MLK day. For ya’ll that don’t know, MLK (the paladin Martin Luther King Jr…”I had a dream…” guy) It’s a 3-day weekend for most,Β but not for my office apparently. Although my boss is always so kind and is letting me out early, which I can’t complain about πŸ™‚

Weekend Recap Time

I don’t know about you but my weekend consisted of A TON of football, courtesy of Andrew, of course. But I will say #GoPatriots

Friday

Anyone else watch those Tasty Videos on Facebook? Those quick and easy recipes they show you how to make…I swear I get hypnotized by them and will sit there for hours watching them all.

Anyways, I watched one making a crepe cake, and with my dire love for crepes, I had a brilliant idea that I wanted to try making my own crepes.

I looked up a recipe off of Pinterest, God I love Pinterest. I found myself a nice little crepe recipe and so…
29.png

And my sweet sweet love came home with wheat flour so I could experiment and make crepes. So the first couple rounds were practice and by the 3rd one I was able to perfect it. With the batch I made, it made about 5-6 and they were pretty good Β we tried different combinations; nutella, strawberries, yogurt, honey, etc…No pictures- but next time I’ll be sure to take them of the final product. But overall, Operation Make Crepes was a success.

After the dessert, I made dinner. Andrew has never had stir-fry which is kind of crazy to me, so I whipped this up and omg, it was so delightful.5

and it sat over a bed of brown rice, yum. I love shrimp more then life.

The rest of the night looked like this7

And then Andrew wanted in on it….OR, I just wanted him in on it πŸ˜‰8

Saturday

Poor Andrew spent all day at the BMW dealership getting an oil change and a wash- literally left at 11:15AM, didn’t get back home till 4PM LOL. Technical difficulties is an understatement. But meanwhile, I shopped at Target, picked up groceries, and all that fun stuff.

We finally congruently met up, got ready, and headed to his parents house in NH to watch the football games, but more specifically for the Patriots!9

I love coming here, his mom feeds us tremendous amounts of food. Always has an abundant of finger snack options to pick at and then a whole meal to go with. You never leave here hungry.10

The first game; Seattle vs Atlanta11

12

Also, love coming here to see Andrew’s brother, sister in law- Evelyn, and the girls. They’re always a blast! The little one was sick so she was laying on the couch so the three of us were of course at the food table.13

And then it was time for the PATRIOTS!30.png

And if you didn’t watch, we won πŸ™‚21

Sunday

That afternoon, Andrew and I met up with his friend Dan and his lady friend Kelly πŸ™‚ We went to brunch in the South End of Boston at a place I have yet to go to called TORO.

It’s a yummy Spanish tapas place but they also have meals as well. I think this might be my next favorite restaurant in Boston.22

Their food was amazing. We were there for brunch and the whole time Dan and Kelly were raving about the corn. Like, corn?! I didn’t think twice about it- that is, until they ordered it and it got to our table and Andrew and I devoured it. I wish I snagged a picture but even the SECOND time we ordered it- devoured.

Earlier that day, Andrew was complaining about the pores on his nose; don’t we all?! Well I remember reading a blog; I wish I remember whose it was so I could give a shout out (so if it was you- let me know and I can edit this!)Β But they recommended charcoal nose strips sooo we went to Target and got

25

23

Holy moly guys, okay- I’m just going to be shameless and talk about my pores right now… When I took that strip off, OMG, half grossed out half SO relieved. I honest to God didn’t even think mine were that bad, I’m pretty good at tending to my skin but woah what a difference! It really just sucks those bad boys up. I loved it. I use a charcoal face wash but after this I’m THAT much more of a charcoal skin care advocate. #unbelievable

Shortly after our little pore strip extravaganza- this one fell asleep on me. He has no idea I took this nor does he know that I’m posting this on here- but look how sweet he looks fast asleep.24

in the meantime, I watched more football. Cowboys vs Green Bay. I was rooting for Dallas, only because I’m so certain I’m going to move to McKinney and Dallas will be the second team I root for πŸ˜‰ #Patsforlife26

We also watched the last game; Kansas vs. Steelers

Last thing before I end this;

When I was playing with Andrew’s niece; Sarah, whose 8- introduced me to this game… I’m not much of a gamer when it comes to my iphone/ipad but I’m addicted to this. There’s also a Dumb Ways To Die 2 and I can’t stop playing.

28

Andrew was watching me play and decided he wanted a game to play tooΒ and found this- whatever it is…27

My point of this is- Do you guys have any cool iphone games you play?! PLEASE SHARE!

Also… Did anyone else watch the football games? Who did you root for?!? I won’t even be mad if you say Houston Texans πŸ˜‰

xo, JJ

I LOVE crepes so much. With ice cream, strawberries, syrup, blueberries, bananas, plain, Nutella and even cream cheese. I’ve been trying out Pinterest recipes and found a very delicious honey sriracha tofu that I’ll be eating more often haha. And I can’t believe he’s never had stir fry. Who’s never had stir fry?! Lol looks delicious by the way, slip me the recipe one day because I love shrimp as well #FoodIsLife 😜
Annnddd….I don’t keep up with sports because I don’t care much for them. I used to though. I could watch car stuff all day though lol.
And…iPhone games. I used to have so many. Literally. No joke. Some were cute, some were basic. The games I play occasionally are Angry Birds (throwback am I right?) and plants vs zombies which are both on my iPad. Oh let’s not forget the Sims Freeplay (level 55, wha!!!) but it’s super slow progress. My main game is Clash Royale. Don’t know if you’d like it though πŸ€”
    Damn! Long comment! πŸ˜…

LOL I love this you commented on all aspects of my post- you’re the absolute best! okay honey sriratcha tofu sounds amazing lets trade recipes.

      Mine was super easy:
      1/2lbs shrimp
      fresh green beans
      frozen broccoli
      Uncle Bens Brown rice
      Sweet baby rays teriyaki sauce!
-cook rice to your liking of course
-boil green beans & broccoli till almost soft
-toss shrimp with teriyaki sauce then cook lightly on pan…when it’s almost done cooking I add the veggies all in the same pan
-put it all on top of cooked rice
It’s so yummy, the sauce is what makes it, I love sweet baby rays brand for any sauce!

Oh god, Angry birds was SOOOOO addicting, Andrew had never played before and was debating on getting it but I was like jeeze how did you never play that before LOL #smh….

        A few notes:

        1) when I made this I didn’t have cumin in hand, but it tasted just as great without it.
        2) I highly suggest you make the avocado cream sauce because the marinated tilapia tastes SO MUCH better than if you were to eat the tilapia alone.

We made rice on the side as well but you could also make tacos out of it πŸ™‚
Let me know if you like it if you end up trying it πŸ™‚ I’m definitely making this again but I need to get tilapia at the store lol.

      2 cup flour
      4 eggs
      1 cup milk
      1 cup water
      4 tbsp melted butter
      1/2 tsp salt
basically all mixed together in that order and you can make them right on your frying pan! I found the recipe on Pinterest, there’s a ton on there for reference! xo

      1. Crepes are actually tradition in Belgium. We always have them at children’s parties and for instance with Easter! We usually have it with caster sugar. But you could also get them very fancy in restaurants!

Are waffles a Belgium thing too? Because I went to this “Belgium-esq” kiosk that claimed to be authentic Belgium waffles and oh my lorddd were they the best waffles I ever did have!!!!

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Yessss! We have 2 famous waffles: the Bruges waffles which are thick and rich and the Brussels waffles which are very light. They both can be topped with chocolate (which is also a Belgian thing :p), strawberries, bananas, nuts… My favorite is a warm Bruges waffle natural, no toppings needed!! I’m craving it, so I’ll have some tomorrow haha.

Ugh my mouth is wateringggg….I think the ones I had was a Bruges one…it seemed thicker and rich in flavor but ever so delightful. I want to go back and get it again, hands down the best waffle I’ve ever had.

        Liked by 1 person

      5. When you go shopping in Brussels, there’s a waffle booth every 20m I think. There you can usually can get the Bruges waffles (as weird as it may sound). But close at the “Grand Place” you’ll also find the other version. I love how the corners are caramelized hmm.

The stir-fry was amazing and super easy, the trick is to use “Sweet Baby Ray’s” teriyaki sauce which you can find in the like BBQ sauce section of a grocery store….so delicious! Everything else is just self explanatory of course. And yes those pore strips OMG I used another one for my chin, miracle worker. Any brand that has a charcoal base will work!
